The University of Michigan
The University of Michigan
Located in Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan is endowed with vast resources. It is ranked among the top three public universities in the United States with many (if not most) of its programs ranked among the top five.
One could easily say, “impressive,” but that might not fully convey the magnitude of the University to the casual observer.
To truly put the size and scope of the University of Michigan into perspective one needn’t look past its operations budget. The total budget of the University of Michigan is nearly the size of the entire state budget for the Ministry of Education in Greece.
Impressive indeed.
What is the English Language Institute?
The English Language Institute (ELI) was the first English language research and training entity of its kind in the United States. Established in 1941, it was considered a key development in the history of English language teaching around the world.
Today, the ELI is recognized worldwide as a leader in second language teaching, testing, and research. The ELI oversees the administration of all Michigan Proficiency Exams worldwide.
For more than 50 years now the University of Michigan and the ELI have had a special interest and involvement in language testing. Today the Testing and Certification Division of the ELI offers a broad range of tests and services including the MELAB for applicants to the University of Michigan and other North American universities.
This site is dedicated to those seeking English language certification through the University of Michigan’s ELI examinations. Examinations include the ECPE, MELAB, MTELP and MELICET.
